SUMMARY
WORSHIP AND HELP (IBADAAT AND ISTIAANAT)
1.
Allah
needs to be worshiped because:- (26:69-84 & 43:26-28) & (43:63-65 &
43:81-85)
a. He is the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds
(the heavens, the earth) and the Throne.
b. He is the Creator, has arranged for the
guidance, food and drink and cure when one is ill.
c.
He causes
all to die and will bring to life all for the final settlement of their
accounts.
d. Authority of forgiving on the Day of
Judgment lies with Him.
e.
He
grants honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest generations
so that people could return to Allah.
f.
He is
Full of Wisdom and Knowledge and bestows wisdom leading to righteousness. The
messengers sent by Him have cleared all disputes among the humans employing
wisdom.
g.
He is
worshiped on earth and in the heavens.
2.
Worship
implies:- (39:1-3; 39:17 & 39:62-66) and (43:63-65 & 43:81-85)
a. Accepting and acknowledging Allah as the
One Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom, the Creator, the Guardian, and Disposer
of all affairs and always turning to Him in repentance offering sincere
devotion and giving thanks.
b. Believing that the Qur’an is revealed with
Truth by Allah, never rejecting His Signs and not taking any one other than
Allah as protector in any purpose and in any logic.
c.
Not
being false and ungrateful while steering clear of Evil and never submitting to
it.
d. Not falling in to disagreements among your groups and clearing disputes with wisdom.
e.
Fearing
Allah, Obeying His Messenger and avoiding talking any nonsense.
3.
Contemplating
on the first five verses of Al-Fatihah one may understand that worshiping and
seeking help are the two instinctive desires of all good humans. Such people
acknowledge Allah’s Gracious Mercy towards all those that are created by Him
and they also concede to His dominion on the Day of Judgment. It is to be noted
that seeking help is after you have engaged yourself in worship. It is also
worth remembering that good humans submit to their Lord to such an extent that
they admit their dependence on their Creator even in His worship. 1:1-5. Loving,
worshiping, admiring or being passionate about our and our ancestor’s Creator
Who has arranged for our living in this world and provided/provides sustenance
as well, would lead on to virtue, morality, uprightness, justice and
honesty. Those that attain all this are
given the title of being His servant by Allah and they never set up a contender
in any manner against Allah. 2:21-23. Bowing your will completely to that of
Allah and remaining in that condition till your death is what worship (IBADAT)
implies. This approach has been demonstrated with absolute perfection by
Allah’s messengers. We will, on the Day of Judgment, harvest only that that we do here and will not be held
accountable in any manner of the actions of past individuals or nations. This
concept can result in peace and harmony amongst individuals and nations in many
matters. 2:130-134. Seeking Allah’s help is linked with striving for all that
is good. Those who are to enjoin the right conduct on the people are required
to study the Qur’an and put to practice the learning’s from it on their selves
as a logical preamble. Their main weapon in doing so should be [and is] Allah’s
help sought through patient perseverance and prayer. Such people are humble by
nature, sure of their return to Him and also certain to meet their Lord one
day. 2:44-46. All humans stand pledged with their Creator for the following:-
2:83
a. Worshiping none but Allah.
b. Treating kindly the parents as well as the
kindred and orphans and also those in need.
c. Speaking
to the people in the best way.
d. Remaining steadfast in prayer.
e. Practising
regular charity.
4.
Worshiping
none but Allah with all sincerity and then getting submerged in it are the most
basic points on which all those that have Faith in their Creator Lord’s Message
can or should get united both in thought and action and focusing on self
accountability. 2:136-139. Seeking help with Patient Perseverance and Prayer even
at the peril of your life earns Allah’s Blessings, Mercy and Guidance. Going
through the pages of history such believers are seen fighting in the cause of
Allah under the banner of Imam Hussain bin Ali bin Abu Talib [may Allah’s Blessings
and Peace be upon them all] at Karbala against all the tyrannical forces
embodied in Yazid bin Muwawia bin Abu Suffiaan and their followers. 2:153-157. Worship
of Allah must never lead to disdain from it. Celebrating His praises and bowing
before Him consistently will take you closer to Allah. 7:206. Worshiping Allah
must lead to fearing (TAQWA) Him. Those that do not accede to the prophet’s
call of worshiping Allah alone, that reject Allah’s Signs and that do not
attain the status of true believer (MOMIN) are to be left to the mercy of time
for due punishment of cutting off their roots. 7:65-73. Those that pray for
Allah’s help must stick to patience with constancy in proving to be His
servants so that they are able to grasp the inheritance of the earth and the
end is for them. Resorting to violence, against those helpless people that plan
of abandoning self proclaimed leaders and giving up worship of gods, is the way
of the people of Pharaoh’s faction. 7:127-128. Available history of past
nations proves that resorting to violence has been the domain of the forces of
evil while the forces of good only resorted to the use of force when they were
forced to do so. A cursory glance of the recorded history does provide ample
material where some people in the ostensible name of good did perpetuate
violence over the people. A detailed study of such cases, however, does prove
that they used the shield of good or religion only for the furtherance of their
ulterior designs. The concept of use of
force as explained in the verses 127 and 128 of Al-A’raf should be applicable
conversely as well. In today’s world, therefore, those that do not worship
Allah should not be treated harshly and violently, unless they resort to
violence and mischief. The time of peaceful coexistence thus made available to
humanity is utilized by the forces of good for the ultimate good of all humans.
Prophet Moses [PBUH] told his followers to pray for help from Allah and wait in
patience and constancy for having earth as heritage from Allah. Behaviour of
believers, therefore, towards those that reject Allah and do not pay heed to
the message communicated by the messenger of Allah, as long as they remain
peaceful, should conform to the perception explained in the verses 127 &
128 of Al-A’raf. But it must be remembered that for all this the believers must
possess strength and wisdom. The message of Allah’s messengers (contained in
verses 59, 65, 70, 85 and 128 of Al-A’raf) has been to fear Allah, worship Him
alone and pray for help from Allah with patience and constancy. Demonstration
of Faith equally implies giving just measure and weight, not withholding things
from people that are their due and doing no mischief on earth after setting in
of order.
5.
Eating
of the good things provided by Allah and remaining grateful to Him are both the
prelude and the product of Allah’s worship. 2:172. Servants
of Allah need to bear in mind that their Creator listens to their call from
close by while they must see to it that they also listen to His call and believe
in Him if they want to walk in the right way. 2:186. Avoiding following the
footsteps of Satan, a declared enemy of the humans, and submitting to Allah
completely should lead us to give up our self to earn His pleasure. This could
take us to the level where Allah calls us His servants and declares our
eligibility towards His Kindness. 2:207-208. To become Allah’s servant should
be the essence of all wise people’s life. This can only be realized through
Allah’s worship [IBAADAT]. Being righteous profits and is also preface to be
Allah’s servant. Possessing and loving worldly things need to be
differentiated. Former is desired while the latter is warned against. Praying
to Allah helps remaining in His sight. Some of the essentials of prayer are:- 3:14-18
a. Proclaiming belief in Allah;
b. Seeking in the early hours of every morning
His forgiveness of sins and also saving from the agony of Fire;
c.
Showing
firmness, patience and self-control;
d. Remaining true in word and deed;
e.
Worshiping
Allah devoutly.
6. Worshiping
Allah the Lord is the Straight Way .
3:51. The three basics that can serve as unifying force amongst all People of
the Book are worshiping non but Allah, associating no partners with Him and not
allowing anyone, other than Allah, to be made our Lord and patron. 3:64. Being
a worshiper of Allah is natural with those that have been given by Him the
Book, and Wisdom, and the Prophetic office and with them (and/or after them)
with those that study the Book and teach the same to others. 3:79. Worship must
not be corrupted with anything. Closely following Allah’s worship is doing well
to parents and the kinsfolk and also to the others, mentioned in verse
36 of Al-Nisaa, that will earn you Allah’s love. Those worshipers that do not
do well to other humans and instead behave arrogantly coupled with conceit or
do well to fellow humans only for the sake of ostentation are to find
themselves in the community of those that resist faith and rewarded with
contemptible punishment. Belief in Allah and on the Last Day and spending in
the prescribed way from what Allah has given will be very well rewarded by
Allah Almighty. 4:36-40. Serving and worshiping Allah with complete
steadfastness and without any extremes in religion are the most basic duties of
Allah’s Messengers, His nearest angels and all believers. No Messenger or any
angel does disdain Allah’s worship and none of them even feels arrogance of any
degree and nature having completely submerged his self in Allah’s service and
worship. And so it aught to be for all humans. 4:171-175. Worship of Allah and
worship of Evil are the two opposite ends of human behaviour. Results of
indulging in worship of Evil are incurring Allah’s curse and His Wrath and
going far more astray from the even Path. Manifestation of the worship of Evil
is in racing each other in sin that begins with uttering sinful words and ends
up in wrongdoing of all and every kind. A logical conclusion of all this turns
out to be that such people start indulging in eating of forbidden things. The
end of these people is going to be worse than those that were transformed in to
apes and swine. 5:60-63. Joining other gods with Allah in matters of worship
(or in any other matter) will result in the Garden being forbidden and the Fire
being made the final resting place. To avoid such an end all humans must seek
Allah’s forgiveness as He is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful. 5:72-74. Worship of
Allah implies complete subordination to the Creator Lord in all matters
including following the laid down boundaries in religion, not trespassing
beyond the truth, not following the vain desires of people gone by that misled
their selves and many other humans, not rejecting Faith, not disobeying Allah’s
prophets, not persisting in Excesses and also forbidding one an other all that
is bad. 5:76-79
7. Knowing
your rights and limitations, in the scenario that your Creator is in complete
knowledge of everything and having power to do what He wills are the basics of
worshiping Allah Almighty. He keeps His servants under strict vigilance with
wisdom and knowledge. 5:116-120 & 6:17-18. Those have-nots that worship
Allah for His sake only are a test for the have-ones. Worship is due only to
Allah and is a means to Allah’s guidance. 6:52-56. Worshipers of Allah qualify
for His compassionately forced protection against all that is bad for them till
their death. 6:61. It must be understood by all that purity in belief and
worship of Allah is prelude to earning Allah’s security and guidance. 6:82-90. Worship
of Allah implies that He is accepted as the Lord that created all and has the
power to dispose off all affairs. 6:102. Worship implies taking no one other
than Allah as Lord and praising and glorifying Him alone. Acting against this
can in no way put out Allah’s Light and the Religion of Truth brought by His
Messenger that will assert over all other religions one day. 9:31-33. Worship
passing through the gates of repentance performs praise of Allah in face of all
the odds, bows down and prostrates before Him, undertakes enjoining good and
forbidding evil while remaining within the limits set by Allah and ultimately
encourages the Believer to fight in Allah’s cause with his person and
belongings to attain the supreme triumph even if it involves killing or getting
killed. 9:111-112
8.
The
only logical conclusion from the facts that Allah maintains every being, He is
the creator of heavens and the earth, He regulates and governs all things and
no one can intercede with Him except with His permission, could be that He alone
is to be worshiped. Nothing else, hurting or profiting us to any degree, should
be allowed to mingle up with Allah’s worship. 10:3 & 10:18. Only Allah is
aware of our worship to Him. He alone is, therefore to be worshiped and that is
the base line of right religion. 10:28-29 & 104. Accepting Allah as the One
Supreme and Irresistible and then believing that Command encompassing our
entire life including our worship is for Him, is the right religion. 12:39-40. Worship
based on repentance earns forgiveness and true enjoyment in this life while
turning away from it would be rewarded with Penalty of a Great Day. 11:1-4. Prophet
Noah [PBUH], like all other prophets, had a clear mission from Allah of warning
his people to remain in Allah’s service and in the event of failure to do that
they would face Penalty of a Grievous Day. 11:25-26. Collective obedience of
Allah’s messengers leading to combined actions has been emphasised in the
interest of launching, following and preserving the system given by Allah. True
Worship of Allah based on repentance, following His messengers, seeking
forgiveness, not turning to sin, giving just measures and weight, committing no
evil and mischief on land would result in national prosperity and strength.
11:50-53; 11:61-62 & 11:84-90. In matters of worship the ways of
forefathers are not to take priority in any way over the teachings of Allah’s
prophets. 11:109. All that we do and all that is in the heavens and in the
earth is known to Allah and also decided by Him. We must therefore put trust in
Him and keep worshiping Him. 11:123. It is hundred percent acceptance of
Qur’an and all that has been revealed to the Prophet with total submission till
one’s return to Him that constitutes worship of Allah. 13:36. Conclusive contemplation
on the creation of the heavens and the earth leads every rightly guided human
to the conclusion that Allah alone needs to be worshiped, as enunciated by His
messengers and that too for our benefits. 14:10-11. Allah’s servants need only
to establish regular prayers and spend in charity both secretly and openly to
have a bargain with Allah and earn His friendship. 14:31. Peace and security
appear to be a prologue and also the product of avoiding worshipping idols of
all sorts and forms. 14:35
9. Celebrating
the praises of Allah and joining those that prostrate before Him till the final
Day constitutes Allah’s worship. 15:98-99. Believing that our ill deeds in
matters of worship have also Allah’s sanction is a misleading belief. Serving
Allah and avoiding evil is the right way of life. 16:35-36. Acknowledging
Allah’s favours for making mates of our nature available to us, granting
offspring, eating lawful and good sustenance with the belief that it is from
Allah and then also remaining grateful to Him constitute His worship. 16:72-73;114.
Closely following Allah’s worship is being kind to parents especially in their
old age and without uttering any word of contempt for them or repelling them
instead always talking to them in terms of honour. 17:23. The Straight Way is
to worship Allah acknowledging Him as your and other’s Lord. An inbuilt message
in this is to display love and affection for the fellow worshipers and also
those invited to His worship.19:36. Worship should be based on knowledge and
belief about Allah that He hears all, knows all and every being gets all the
benefits from Him. 19:41-44. Breaking away from those that deliberately deny
Allah’s worship and also from those that are worshiped besides Allah is the
Way of Allah’s prophet that leads to His Mercy and lofty honour. 19:49-50.
Acknowledging Allah as the Lord of heavens and of the earth and all between
them has to lead to His worship that has constancy and patience. 19:65. Worship
should not aim at power and glory to self. 19:81-82.
10.
Standing
up against an incorrect system espousing worship of gods other than Allah requires
strength of youth, belief, guidance from Allah and the potency of hearts. In
case you do not have enough strength to take the incorrect system head on then
taking refuge in caves is the way of Allah’s servants. 18:13-16. Performing
Allah’s pure worship and working righteousness lead to meeting your Lord.18:110.
Not being proud from or of Allah’s worship is the way of those servants of
Allah that earn His presence through untiringly persistent worship of their
creator. 21:19-22. The message of the entire chain of Allah’s messengers has
been to worship and serve Allah alone. 21:25, 52-56 &66-67. Gift of
following Allah’s messenger is righteous offspring that lead humans, do good
deeds, establish regular prayers, practise regular charity and constantly serve
Allah alone. 21:72-73. Worshipers of Allah are required to commemorate tales
of His messengers. 21:84. Worship of Allah must lead to unity in Ummah.
21:92-94. Only the worship with complete devotion qualifies to be termed as worship
yielding positive results. Those that do not worship Allah are termed as
wrongdoers and they will have no helper to help them. Various components of the
act of worship are bowing down, prostrating, adoring your Lord, doing good to
others, striving in Allah’s cause, establishing regular prayers, giving regular
charity and holding fast to Allah. All this earns prosperity from Allah.
22:10-11; 71; 77-78. Allah sent a long line of prophets for instructing
mankind. The message has been to worship Allah and fear Him alone. Praying to
Allah for mercy is an integral part of worship. 23: 23; 32 and 109. Diverting
even the most honourable guests from the worship of others besides Allah is the
responsibility of Allah’s messenger. 27:43. Allah’s messengers had one message
of serving Allah. They did so through the revealed scripture. 27:45 &
91-92. The message of Prophet Abraham [PBUH] was to serve Allah and fear Him
seeking sustenance while being grateful in the scenario that one day you have
to return to Him. 29:16-17. The message of Prophet Shu’aib [PBUH] for his
people was to serve Allah, fear the Last Day and commit no evil on the earth
with the intention of doing mischief. 29:36-37. Those that disbelieve Allah’s
Messengers and worship others than Allah will find on the Day of Judgment the
so called partners of Allah disassociating from their worship to the extent
that they will not be able to even question each other. 28:62-66
11. Allah
created humans from water, established relations of ancestry and marriage yet
they worship those that can neither profit nor harm them who rather will disown
their worship on the Day of Judgment. This way the Disbeliever helps Evil
against his own Lord. 25:17-19 & 54-55. Worship is due to Allah alone, the
Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds Who
causes life, arranges guidance with sustenance, cures on illness, causes death,
grants second life and forgives faults on the Day of Judgment. Wisdom lies in
joining the righteous and making to the Garden of Bliss
as against joining the Evil and earning hell. 26: 69-104. Allah promises grant
of power in the land to those who believe, work righteous deeds, worship only
Him, establish regular prayers, give regular charity and obey His Messenger.
24:55-57. Establishing regular prayers is only a part of Allah’s worship.
Observance of other aspects is also equally important. 24:55-57. Allah desires
that Jinns and humans serve Him. He needs no sustenance; rather He provides
sustenance to all. 51:56-58. Wasting your time in activities full of arrogance
and conceit is a matter of shame and weeping; we must instead spend our time in
Allah’s worship. 53: 60-62. Collective worship results in national well being.
106:1-4. Majority of the humans either worship angels or Jinns disregarding the
message conveyed by Allah’s messengers and His Clear Signs. They will
ultimately taste the Penalty of the Fire. 34:40-43. Humans must only serve
Allah their Creator and to whom they will ultimately return because that is the
Straight Way .
36:22 & 60-61. Worshipers of falsehood gods other than Allah will enter the
Blazing Fire along with their wives and those they used to worship.37:22-23,
83-87 & 159-163. Worship is due only to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. 40:66.
Message of Allah’s messengers for the humans of all times have been of serving
none but Allah and follow the code of life given by Him. Allah also arranged
His Signs like the night and the day and the sun and the moon so that people
learn to adore their Creator instead of His Signs. 41:14 & 37. In matters
of worship we must hold fast to the teachings contained in the Qur’an and
conveyed to the humans by Allah’s Prophet. Following merely our forefathers, in
this context, is of no avail. 43: 19-22 & 45. Against the well thought out
and cunningly executed plans of a people that are also having an upper hand
from the view point of lowly worldly angles, one must seek help from Allah
Almighty with most fitting patience as was done by the Prophet Joseph [PBUH].
Here it must be remembered that the ultimate success was with Prophet Joseph
[PBUH] and not his sons who had ganged up against their father and brother
Yusuf [PBUH]. 12:17-18. Prayer for peace is linked with protection from
worshiping idols. It is peace, in simple words, that can lead to avoiding
worship of idols. 14:35. The Qur’an has a message for those that truly worship
Allah and seek His assistance. The message conveyed through Prophet Muhammad
[PBUH] is as under:- 21:106-112
a. Mercy (kindness and peace) for all
creatures of all times is the central theme in the scheme of the creation of
this universe.
b. Allah’s Mercy can only be realized in case
all submit to His Will, in complete truth, communicated to the humans through
the scripture by His Messenger.
c.
All
those that do not subscribe to the message must remember that the promised
final accountability is not very far.
12.
Those
that do not worship Allah alone and instead join other gods with Him, render
their deeds worthless and form part of those that have lost all spiritual good.
Worship of those who go astray and invoke others, besides Allah, would be
rejected on the Day of Resurrection. Such worshipers will also face hostility
from those that were called upon in worship. 46:5-6. Writings on the sands of
time, if read carefully, only suggest that Allah alone should be worshiped to
avoid punishment at the end. 46:21. Remaining clear of non worshipers is the
way of Abraham [PBUH] and his followers that has been termed as an excellent
example. This could result in avoiding the misdoings of Unbelievers. All this
may be possible in the scenario of strength and wisdom. 60:4-5. There can be no
worship without faith in Allah and the following of His Messenger. 109:1-5. Worship
of Allah, fearing Him and obeying His Messengers lead to forgiveness from sins
and granting respite for a stated term. 71:1-4. The Right and the Straight way
of life is worshipping Allah with sincere devotion, being true, establishing
regular prayers and practicing regular charity. 98:1-5
13.
Available
history of past nations proves that resorting to violence has been the realm of
the forces of evil while the forces of good resorted to the use of force only
when they were forced to do so. A
cursory glance of the recorded history does provide ample material where some
people in the ostensible name of good did perpetuate violence over the people.
A detailed study of such cases, however, proves that they used the shield of

the end is for them. Resorting to violence, against those helpless people that

the way of the people of Pharaoh’s faction. 7:127-128. The concept of use of
force as explained in the verses 127 and 128 of Al-A’raf should be applicable
conversely as well. In today’s world, therefore, those that do not worship
Allah should not be treated harshly and violently, unless they resort to
violence and mischief. The time of peaceful coexistence thus made available to
humanity should be utilized by the forces of good for the ultimate good of all

wait in patience and constancy for having earth as heritage from Allah.
Behaviour of believers, therefore, towards those that reject Allah and do not
pay heed to the message communicated by the messenger of Allah, as long as they
remain peaceful, should conform to the perception explained in the verses 127
& 128 of Al-A’raf. But it must be remembered that for all this the
believers must possess strength and wisdom. Against the well thought out and
cunningly executed plans of a people that are also having an upper hand from

most fitting patience as was done by the Prophet Joseph [PBUH]. Here it must be
